Clean tech takes off in Moses Lake
Innovations in clean technology are taking off in Moses Lake. In September, the first all-electric passenger airplane took flight from Grant County International Airport. In October, so did the largest-ever hydrogen-powered aircraft. Two large-scale electric vehicle battery manufacturers are setting up shop. Moses Lake's clean tech boom is creating jobs and yielding innovations that will help decarbonize industry and transportation.
The Wright brothers performed their early flight tests in Kitty Hawk, N.C., where the steady sea breeze offered a helpful tailwind. In Washington state, ambitious climate policies and support for clean technology are creating a similar tailwind, encouraging bold experiments that might just change the world.
Gov. Jay Inslee visited Moses Lake on March 28 to speak with innovators in sustainable aviation and battery production. The first-ever all-electric passenger aircraft and the largest-ever hydrogen-powered aircraft both recently took flight from Grant County International Airport, hinting that a new era in flight is soon to begin.
