Gender Modification Bill Extended! The House Public Health Committee heard public testimony on Tuesday and it was left pending in committee. The deadline for public comment on HB 1686 (Gender Mod ban) has been extended until Friday, March 31! Make your voice heard and help protect children from harmful gender reassignment procedures and treatments and prohibit the use of public money or public assistance to provide those procedures and treatments. 88th Legislative Session Updates SB 14 This Senate bill is designed to protect children from experimental and harmful sex reassignment medical procedures by prohibiting Texas medical professionals from engaging in these practices and holding those who violate the law accountable. The Senate passed SB 14 on second reading, Wednesday, March 29 with 19 ayes, 11 nays, and 1 present not voting. There will need to be one more vote on third reading by the Senate before this bill heads over to the House. We hope to see this vote early next week. SB 13 Relates to a school district's library materials and parental rights regarding library materials that are deemed obscene or otherwise harmful to children. The Senate Education Committee heard public testimony on Wednesday, March 29 but left the bill pending. HB 900 the house version, was voted out of committee on Tuesday, March 28 by a vote of 10-2. |
