Our Congressman Hank Johnson is up against a serious fundraising deadline — the one that will define the rest of this cycle for him and his priorities.
We know you’re getting a lot of requests for contributions right now, so we want to let you know a little bit about the results Hank has been delivering for us and for all the people in his district.
Otherwise, please read on and give us a second to explain why it’s so important to support Hank.
Hank is focused on taking care of home first.
That doesn’t mean he’s not working extremely hard on national issues. He’s leading the fight in Congress to reform the Supreme Court. And he’s one of the most vocal proponents of protecting voting rights for all Americans. Hank introduced 39 bills last Congress and cosponsored 700 other pieces of legislation.
But Hank’s heart is clearly in Georgia, and he shows it with the work he puts in for his district. In the last big appropriations bill, Hank secured:
-
$1 million for a new Stonecrest transit hub, providing easier access for constituents along the I-20 corridor east of Atlanta
-
$3.6 million for the Michelle Obama Trail — a PATH trail extension in DeKalb County
-
$913,500 for Wellroot Family Services in Tucker, to help transition at-risk youth in foster care into support networks and affordable housing when they pass the age of 18
-
$400,000 to Georgia State University for English language proficiency and other programs that benefit the district’s large and vibrant immigrant population
