It is crucial that we raise $5,000 by the end of the month, in order to show that a truly grassroots campaign not bolstered by the Washington, D.C. Establishment or big money, can win this race.

The D.C. elite and their deep pockets will spend whatever it takes to defeat us. In fact, they already are, and we need to have the resources to fight back.

Most of the candidates in this race rely on $2,800 checks (the maximum personal contribution during a primary cycle) to fund their campaigns. Not Betsy.

We only accept small-dollar donations, and the truth is that it's going to be hard to keep up with the big money donors trying to stop us. But I know that our people-powered movement is up for that challenge.

So today we are asking everyone, whether you’re a monthly donor or just considering a donation for the first time, to contribute to our campaign.

We’re not spending your money on crazy ad-buys or swanky events. We are spending it on the things that actually win elections: our field program and our voter outreach.
