John,
Earlier this week Jamaal took to the outside of the House Floor to speak directly to the GOP actors who are resistant to solving the ever-growing epidemic of gun violence that is directly killing our children and weakening our country.
John, we're way past shaking the status quo. We need to be bold, loud, and powerful when we call on our elected officials to answer our calls for change.
The American people need to know that the Republicans don't have the courage to save our children. They need to know that instead of fighting this issue at its source, they would rather arm teachers and create another avenue for gun manufacturers and lobbyists to make a quick buck. Jamaal is proud to be the one-man megaphone we need in Congress fighting for our values. And if we want to see him continue fighting for us, we need to support his work in Congress.
It's time to change the way we do politics, John. Republicans and conservative Democrats make behind the scenes, backroom deals every day to ensure that gun manufacturers and lobbyists can cut the biggest checks. Meanwhile, in March alone we've lost 57 lives and seen 133 more injured from 38 mass shootings.1
It's no surprise that the American people, and the elected officials who truly care about their constituents, are angry. But instead of working to address this crisis at the root, Republicans would rather tone police our collective anger and flaunt vapid "solutions" that will only make our current epidemic worse. They are playing a dangerous political game and the consequences are deadly for everyone but them.
We need to break down the pillars that have allowed the epidemic of gun violence to flourish for too long. Our opposition can call us loud and "ghetto" all they want — as long as we make sure they can't ignore us.
With rage and solidarity,
Team Bowman
