Dear friend,
I hope this finds you well. I am writing to give you an update on some of the work I have been doing here in the district.
It was great to see so many of you at my Congressional Cafés in March, which are always a great opportunity to meet with my constituents face to face. These Cafés generate meaningful dialogue and help build strong relationships.
U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra came to Milwaukee to discuss the Inflation Reduction Act, a bill I was proud to support, which has provisions to lower the cost of prescription drugs for seniors, including insulin. This vital legislation will help many of the 91,000 seniors in my district with Medicare prescription drug coverage pay less for their prescriptions.
The Inflation Reduction Act will also help 14,000 people in WI-04 continue accessing affordable health care coverage. Without this law, these individuals would have seen their health insurance premiums rise or lost coverage altogether at the end of the year.
In recognition of my support for bills that support injured and ill veterans and their families, I was so honored to be named Outstanding House Legislator for the 117th Congress by the Disabled American Veterans – Department of Wisconsin. I promise to continue this work in the 118th Congress.
The fight for workers' rights happened here in the city of Milwaukee I attended the Labor Union Breakfast, where I met with Milwaukee Area Labor Council Members to discuss the importance of strong unions in Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin, and nationwide.
And last but not least, I met with many local leaders to discuss how I can best serve all the communities in my district. These meetings included Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, West Milwaukee Village President John Stalewski and Village Administrator Kim Egan, Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride, Brown Deer Village Manager Tyler Burkart & Village Board Member Wanda Montgomery, West Allis Meeting Dan Devine, Glendale Mayor Bryan Kennedy, and Shorewood President Ann McKaig.
Those are just a few highlights of what I’ve been up to in the district, and I look forward to continuing to represent my constituents in Washington, D.C.
Your friend,
Gwen
