Indivisibles,

It’s disgusting, but not surprising.

Four decades ago, the GOP released an ad so racist that it’s become a
reference point and shorthand for every dog-whistle TV spot that’s run
since. It’s become so infamous that you likely already know what we’re
referring to before we even say the name “Willie Horton.”

A lot of candidates in a lot of races have stooped to using Willie Horton
tactics in the intervening years. But Dan Kelly, the MAGA candidate in the
Wisconsin Supreme Court race, just released a shot-for-shot remake.

[1]A screenshot of the ad which shows headshots of Dan Kelly and Janet
Protasiewicz in white boxes on a blue background. The text reads Daniel
Kelly and Janet Protasiewicz on crime. It is in the exact style of the
1988 Willie Horton ad.

A screenshot from the ad, which we will not link to.

That’s not a dog-whistle. It’s a bear horn meant to be heard by every
far-right MAGA voter in the state.

Remember, Kelly was part of the Trump effort to overturn the 2020
election. He campaigned (as recently as last week) with a pastor who
called the murder of abortion providers “justifiable homicide.”

So he’s resorting to the only viable strategy he has -- putting his
extremism on full display and praying that the minority that shares his
views is galvanized to turn out while the majority stays home.

It’s up to us to ensure he’s not successful. It’s up to us to get out the
vote in these final few days for Janet Protasiewicz and keep Kelly and his
deplorable ideology as far away from the Supreme Court bench as possible.

We still need help to fund our GOTV efforts – including our biggest
textbank of the campaign tonight -- and ensure we’re able to reach every
likely Dem voter we can. [ [link removed] ]If you’re able to rush a donation to help us

Today, a judge in Texas demonstrated once again [ [link removed] ]just how much damage
MAGA activists in robes can do.

But we didn’t really need a reminder, because for months we’ve been
talking about issues likely to come before the Wisconsin court: Abortion
rights, the chance to unrig the state’s gerrymandered districts,
potentially even the outcome of the next presidential election.

Those cases and other civil rights issues could be ruled on by a liberal
majority including Janet Protasiewicz, or a MAGA majority featuring a
candidate who exploits racial resentment, abets insurrection, and opposes
reproductive rights.

The outcome depends on the work Indivisibles and our allies do over the
next few days to get voters to the polls.

This is the final time we’ll be reaching out to ask for your help in this
campaign. [ [link removed] ]If you’re able, please chip in to help us elect Janet
Protasiewicz, flip the court and last -- but not least -- defeat Dan Kelly
and his repugnant brand of politics.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
