Friend,
Six people, three of whom were children, lost their lives on Monday when a
shooter carrying an AR-15 targeted a private Christian elementary school.
My heart aches for their families, and for the Nashville community as a
whole, in the wake of this horrific tragedy.
This week’s mass shooting in Nashville is just the latest example of the
epidemic of gun violence plaguing our country. The United States has
suffered at least [ [link removed] ]130 mass shootings in 2023 alone.
We can’t sit by and watch as more and more people fall victim to senseless
violence. [ [link removed] ]Sign if you agree: It’s time to ban assault weapons.
Until 2004, when the 1994 ban on assault weapons lapsed without
Congressional action, a person’s likelihood of being killed in a mass
shooting in the United States was 70 percent less than it is today. These
weapons are responsible for [ [link removed] ]25 percent of deaths and over 75 percent of
injuries in mass shootings, and they are capable of shooting five times as
many people as guns without high-capacity magazines.
There is no justification for allowing Americans to purchase assault
weapons. It’s imperative that we enact a ban on assault weapons before
countless more people lose their lives.
[ [link removed] ]Sign the petition: Tell Congress to pass an assault weapons ban.
In solidarity,
