Dear John,

I wanted to reach out to you personally to share some exciting news: Today I reintroduced the Women's Health Protection Act, which would protect abortion rights around the country.

Since the Supreme Court's disastrous decision overturning Roe v. Wade last summer, Republicans in State Legislatures and in Congress have attempted to strip millions of people of their reproductive rights. In Oklahoma, four judges wrote an official dissent arguing that doctors should not be allowed to perform an abortion, even to save a pregnant person's life. In South Carolina, lawmakers are leaving the door open to the death penalty for patients who receive an abortion. And Lindsey Graham pitched a federal abortion ban.

Anti-abortion extremists have made it clear that they are committed to criminalizing critical healthcare — which means we have to be even more committed to protecting it, and I'm a proud leader in this fight. The Women's Health Protection Act establishes a federal right to abortion care without medically unnecessary restrictions, such as mandatory ultrasounds or waiting periods.

But I also know that codifying abortion rights is an uphill battle in the Republican-controlled House, so I'll keep organizing to elect abortion champions up and down the ballot. Will you join me in this critical work?

Together,
Judy
