Friend,

Meet Evelyn.

Evelyn is a Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holder who left El Salvador after a catastrophic earthquake and has made her home in California for three decades. As an organizer for the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) in Los Angeles, Evelyn advocates for protections for immigrants like herself, including a pathway to citizenship.

Evelyn's story is one of hope, resilience, and determination. She has faced countless challenges, but she remains steadfast in her commitment to building a better life for herself, her family, and her community. TPS has allowed her to work legally and build a life in the United States, where she has made invaluable contributions — and a home.

"TPS provides me with the opportunity to live in the U.S. without fear," says Evelyn. And she's not alone.

TPS holders like Evelyn have made their homes here, but they also have made tremendous contributions to the U.S. economy. In fact, a new FWD.us report showed that TPS holders and TPS-eligible individuals together contribute some $22 billion in wages to the U.S. economy each year and work in more than 600,000 jobs.

However the future of TPS is uncertain, and that uncertainty weighs heavily on Evelyn and her family. Like hundreds of thousands of other TPS holders, Evelyn lives with the fear of losing her status and being separated from her loved ones.
