I can't really describe how it felt to have the specialists there tell us that our 6-month-old's heart was failing.

Genesis needed a heart transplant. It was a long, scary road, but we had amazing support at every step. Genesis' team of doctors was able to implant a specialized device to help her heart pump while we waited for a donor. It helped keep her alive, but it came at a cost: My daughter experienced two strokes.

Through it all, our family knew we were in the best possible place for Genesis to get well.

From specialists at the top of their field, to nurses who made it their mission to keep our daughter's spirits up, to a medical team that checked in with us regularly to see if we were OK with how our daughter's care was progressing, the expertise and compassion shown by every person on her care team made the months Genesis spent waiting for a new heart less scary.
