John,
On Tuesday, we mobilized hundreds of our members and allies to Albany in support of the Access to Representation Act. United for justice, we demand that Governor Hochul and our leaders in Albany ensure a right to legal representation for people facing deportation, and commit to their promise of $120 million in investments in legal and social services.
We held a press conference with our elected leaders, legal service providers, and impacted people. We marched around the NYS Capitol and held a speak out to show the urgent need for the Access to Representation. With over 200 people in our ranks, it’s clear our voices could be heard in New York’s halls of power!
From every corner of the state, people have come out in support for our campaign for justice and due process for immigrant New Yorkers! This latest show of strength makes one thing clear—New Yorkers are demanding equity for immigrants, and we’re not backing down until our leaders deliver.
