A round-up of news and ways to take action this March.
Dear John
If we didn't already know what Rishi Sunak thinks about climate change, we do now. His new energy plan looks half-baked and half-hearted.
Our legal team is already poring over the UK government’s revised strategy. If we decide to launch a fresh legal case, you’ll be the first to hear.
In the meantime, here are 5 other positive things you can do today:
DELVE INTO ENERGY DATA

We’ve crunched the numbers – across geography, age, health and type of home – to reveal the glaring gap between those spending the most, and the least, on energy each month. Our groups are now using these local figures to push for more action to end fuel poverty. Take a look below.

TOUR YOUR LOCAL TREES

Is there space for more woodland in ? Communities are fighting to protect and expand tree cover in their local areas. And it can be tough to find land for planting. But it does exist.
Search our brand-new map with your postcode. You’ll find existing tree cover – and reveal the woodland and rewilding opportunities in your area.

CONNECT WITH YOUR COMMUNITY

Want to make a difference where your live and help people in your community who are struggling?
Local people just like you are campaigning to reduce energy bills, end fuel poverty and tackle the climate crisis. If you’d like to join them, let us know and we’ll be in touch with ways to get involved.

NURTURE NATURE'S HELPERS

Making dens, catching tadpoles, growing a sunflower – some of our best childhood memories are from exploring and adventuring in nature.
Sadly millions of children under 12 live in neighbourhoods deprived of green space. So Friends of the Earth is on a mission to bring the magic of nature back to childhood. And you can help.
Discover easy ways to connect children to nature. And hear how we’re working with communities to turn built-up areas into havens for nature and play.

BE PART OF THE BIG ONE
Westminster
We'll be joining the first 2 days of The Big One outside the Houses of Parliament next month (21 and 22 April) to demand urgent climate action and social justice.
The Big One's organised by Extinction Rebellion, and it's being supported by lots of organisations, us included. XR is hoping to create a 100,000-strong lawful demonstration to peacefully deliver a message that's too big to ignore. If you're interested there's more info on their site. Or if you've got any questions or concerns, please do get in touch.
