Audio File of Radio Address.
MADISON ? Gov. Tony Evers today delivered the Democratic Radio Address highlighting his budget initiatives to bolster Wisconsin?s clean energy workforce and economy.
Hey there, Governor Tony Evers here.
We know efforts to protect our environment and invest in sustainable industries are vital for conservation, protecting our quality of life, and maintaining our economy?s momentum.
We don?t have to choose between building a healthier, more sustainable state and bolstering our workforce and our economy?we can, and we must do both.
And Wisconsinites are ready for bold and urgent solutions that will stop treating these goals as mutually exclusive.
Since Day One, my administration has been committed to building a clean energy workforce and economy that supports our 21st-century needs.
That?s why we created our state?s first-ever Clean Energy Plan that outlines strategies to help lower energy bills for working families, reduce our reliance on out-of-state energy sources, invest in job training and apprenticeship programs in innovative industries and technologies, and create an estimated more than 40,000 jobs by 2030.
My 2023-25 biennial budget proposal builds on this work and includes several provisions recommended by the Clean Energy Plan, including investing nearly $10 million into expanding clean energy job training and reemployment and reducing barriers for folks joining our clean energy workforce.
We?re also making targeted investments to bolster our forest industry, support small businesses in the clean energy sector, and build out our state?s electric vehicle infrastructure.
Our investments and policies will help combat climate change, train Wisconsinites for in-demand jobs in conservation, sustainability, and clean energy, and build a stronger, more resilient future for our state.
Now is the time to make these needed investments, and I know that together, we can make these goals a reality for the people of Wisconsin today and for generations to come.
Thank you. |
