Autism Speaks opens applications for predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowship awards

Autism Speaks announced the opening of applications for a new cycle of predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships. Unlike the broad scope of previous years, the current round of funding will be granted to researchers focusing on mental health and autism. Letters of Intent are due on or before May 3, 2023. Increasing global understanding and acceptance of people with autism

Autism Speaks Coaches Powering Forward Week Unites the NCAA Community

National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball teams across the country displayed their support for the autism community by wearing Autism Speaks puzzle-piece pins at games during the week of February 21-28. Autism Speaks’ Coaches Powering Forward campaign is an annual effort to bring college basketball coaches, teams, schools, broadcasters and fans together to raise understanding and inclusion, with the goal of creating a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential.

Increasing early childhood screening and timely interventions

Autism Speaks and Bloom Buddy work to make autism screening accessible in Nigeria
Autism Speaks is collaborating with Bloom Buddy to digitize the Nigerian Autism Screening Questionnaire (NASQ), which can assist in the early detection of autism. The screening tool is specifically designed for low-resource settings, including Nigeria where the prevalence of autism occurs at a rate of 11.4 percent among children with developmental disabilities. This project will make the NASQ more accessible to the autism community in Nigeria and is an important step towards improving diagnosis rates in the country.
