[ [link removed] ]We need your help. Senate Republicans have been actively obstructing
President Biden’s efforts to repair our courts by exploiting the current
“blue slip” process. That’s the practice where district court nominees
won’t even get a committee hearing unless both home state senators approve
of them. By not working with the White House in good faith to find good
nominees, Republicans keep vacancies open longer and longer with no
nominees to fill them.

In fact, in the last five weeks, only two candidates for lifetime
positions as judges appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee. This
blockade has resulted in a significant backlog of vacancies in our federal
judiciary. Of the 59 district court vacancies without nominees, nearly
two-thirds of them – 37 – are in states with two Republican senators. This
is causing serious harm to the integrity of our justice system. We can’t
have a court system that only provides justice to people in blue states.

The threat to our judiciary is not a hypothetical one. We have already
seen the disastrous consequences of an unbalanced and politically
motivated judiciary in recent years. The need to protect the independence
and impartiality of our courts has never been more critical!

There are just a few days left to meet our end of quarter fundraising goal
and we are currently far short of meeting it! We cannot continue the fight
