Across the country, opponents of civil liberties are coming after our most fundamental freedoms – threatening to fine, arrest, and even incarcerate people for providing reproductive care or choosing to have an abortion.

The ACLU just launched the Abortion Criminal Defense Initiative – mobilizing and working alongside a network of criminal defense attorneys to defend providers, supporters, and those who access abortion care, should they face criminal investigation or prosecution.

The challenge ahead is big, but the ACLU community is bigger. And we're going to keep showing up to fight for our civil liberties, whenever and wherever we need to.

But doing this work takes a massive amount of resources – and with time running out before our fiscal year-end deadline, we're on track to fall short of what we need to power the fights ahead.
