The tragic fire that broke out at a migrant detention center in Ciudad
Juárez and claimed 38 lives has shaken and infuriated me,
John.

The victims had traveled from Central and South America to seek asylum in
the United States, but were detained as a result of the decades of extreme
militarization at our southern border. Xenophobic fear mongering, and
outright lies by the GOP about an “invasion” at the U.S/Mexico border has
directly contributed to these inhumane policies.

This has to stop,
John.

As a ranking member of the House Immigration Subcommittee, I intend to do
everything in my power to reform our broken immigration system and better
serve those who come to our country looking for refuge. [ [link removed] ]Can you support
me and our movement in this fight by chipping in $3 today?
Your contribution will help us continue to debunk the false narratives
that the GOP and subcommittee Chair Jim Jordan are continuing to spin.

This month I joined a Congressional delegation trip to the southern border
in McAllen, Texas to meet with local officials and humanitarian leaders.
What I saw there wasn’t at all the chaotic, terror-filled picture that the
right-wing has painted, but a thriving community with a rich bi-national
history.

This trip, and the tragedy in Juárez, has put into clear focus something
we already knew to be true: our immigration system is in desperate need of
reform with real legal pathways for migrants who are fleeing terrible
situations or want to be reunited with family. Pathways which are
accessible and reasonable without onerous hurdles to overcome.

[ [link removed] ]I am ready to keep up the fight for anyone who is willing to risk a
journey of thousands of miles to seek sanctuary,
John. Will you join me and
help in this effort by contributing $3 today?

Asylum seekers deserve dignity, safety, and more than a promise of a
better tomorrow. They deserve humanity today, right now.

In the fight,

Pramila
