WomenHeart is thrilled to announce that WomenHeart ChampionRoxanne Watson will receive the inaugural Dr. Sharonne N. Hayes Award for Champion Excellence. In 2010, after four years of worsening heart disease, Roxanne received a heart transplant. She became an advocate for organ donation and, in 2015, attended the Science & Leadership Symposium and became a WomenHeart Champion. Roxanne has reached millions of people through hundreds of hours dedicated to outreach and education. Roxanne's commitment to sharing her heart story and using every platform available - including her own weekly radio show - to reach women and to advocate for heart health and organ donation has been far-reaching and demonstrates incredible dedication to WomenHeart and its mission.

Most recently, Roxanne set a Guinness World Record for signing up 14,000 new organ donors. Roxanne embodies Champion excellence, and we are incredibly grateful for all the work she does to spread messages of hope, gratitude and heart health.

The Dr. Sharonne N. Hayes Award for Champion Excellence recognizes a WomenHeart Champion who has gone above and beyond in her work supporting, educating, and advocating for women and furthering WomenHeart's mission to improve the lives of women with or at risk of for heart disease while fighting for equity in heart health.
