Hey John,
I was alarmed by a recent article in Slate that described an underreported aspect of the war on reproductive rights. More and more healthcare workers are leaving their jobs in states with abortion bans due to the impossible situations they are now facing.
We’re seeing more cases where women face traumatic or dangerous pregnancies and medical providers fear lawsuits, loss of licenses, or even incarceration – just for providing them the care they need. In some cases, providers are waiting until patients are near death to intervene in emergencies.
It’s reprehensible that doctors are unable to provide a sufficient standard of care, and they’re leaving their jobs in increased numbers. Reproductive rights are facing the worst threats in decades, and it’s on all of us to take a stand.
It seems far away, but the stakes have never been higher for us to retake the House in 2024 and codify the right to abortion into law. I’m building the groundwork to fight extremist Republicans at every step – will you chip in a donation to my campaign before the end-of-quarter deadline on Friday?
DONATE TODAY
I have personal experience with miscarriages and failed pregnancies. I haven’t been shy about sharing them either. They were some of the most difficult times of my life.
It’s hard to believe that women and medical providers are now fearing prosecution or other penalties, simply for getting the care they need. If the current laws in Texas had been in place where I was when I was pregnant, my life could have been in danger.
This is completely backward, and another sign of hypocrisy from “pro-life” politicians.
If you can support me in my fight to change our laws for the better and enshrine the right to an abortion nationwide, please donate to my campaign by Friday at midnight.
Thank you,
Lucy McBath
