You may have seen this news, John:
Earlier this year, South Carolina Republicans put forward legislation that would make anyone who undergoes an abortion subject to the state's homicide laws.
That means people choosing to have abortions could be facing decades in prison — or even the death penalty. It’s just sickening.
This is exactly what we all feared when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last summer. With the filibuster still intact and a partisan Court majority, we warned that Republicans would only ramp up their efforts to roll back our fundamental rights at the state and federal level.
Now, that’s exactly what’s happening in states like South Carolina — and we need to act.
We cannot protect the right to abortion nationwide without decisive Senate action to codify Roe v. Wade into law. When I’m in the Senate, that’s exactly what I will do. If you’re with me in this fight, pitch in $3 now to support my campaign:

Your ability to safely access reproductive health care without fear of punishment shouldn’t depend on which state you live in. We cannot — and must not — let this continue.
Thank you for raising your voice alongside mine on this.
