Dear John,
The big news this month is the election of Humza Yousaf as SNP Leader and First Minister of Scotland.
There are so many huge challenges facing Scotland that demands the new First Minister’s attention.
But already, instead of focusing on tackling Scotland’s big challenges, Humza Yousaf has said he will be “First Activist” for independence.
He says he wants every election to be about separation.
He says he will use “any means necessary” to get another referendum.
He even says the rest of the United Kingdom is a “foreign” country.
Humza Yousaf is even more divisive than Nicola Sturgeon.
The Scottish Conservatives are determined to remove Humza Yousaf from power and, here in the Borders, keep the SNP out.
I was delighted to recently be re-selected as the Scottish Conservative candidate to contest the next General Election.
It has been the privilege of my life to serve as your MP, and I will fight hard to be re-elected and earn the chance to represent you again.

UK Budget delivers for the Borders
The UK Spring Budget delivered for the Borders, Scotland and our whole United Kingdom.
It focused on tackling the most important issues. It will have a real impact on people’s everyday lives by bringing down inflation, tackling the cost-of-living crisis, and growing our economy.
I was especially pleased to see the UK Government deliver more protection from the cost-of-living crisis to Borders residents, through the extension of the Energy Price Guarantee. That will keep bills as low as possible and benefit the average household by around £160.
The UK Budget also delivered an extra £320 million for public services in Scotland, which could be used to reduce NHS waiting times, invest in our schools, or help families with childcare costs.
I will be urging the SNP Government to use this money carefully. It must be spent on the pressing priorities of the people of Scotland, not used by the SNP to promote independence.
