In case you missed it, there was a latex chemical spill near Bristol, Pennsylvania, last Friday that prompted local and state officials to begin monitoring water quality in the Delaware River and the drinking water in South Jersey. New Jersey American Water then issued a precautionary and voluntary conservation notice to help with the testing of water samples and ensure the safety of families in Camden, Gloucester, and Burlington Counties.

The tests have shown the drinking water to be safe, and this conservation notice has been lifted for those three New Jersey counties. 

However, I take any potential impact on our drinking water seriously and will continue to make sure there is safe drinking water in South Jersey. I was proud to secure $1 billion in federal funding for New Jersey to improve water infrastructure in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. I was also proud to secure a $3.5 million investment to clean up contaminated sites in Elijah Perry Park in Camden, as well as a $1 million federal grant to protect drinking water in Brooklawn.
