Yesterday, outside counsel for the LAPPL filed this lawsuit in California Superior Court to compel the City to take action to protect the safety of our members.
The introduction to the lawsuit states:
“The City of Los Angeles perpetrated one of the worst security breaches in recent memory, releasing service photographs of undercover officers pursuant to a California Public Records Act request; all without notifying any of the affected officers or even informing their union, the Los Angeles Police Protective League, of the pending request. This lawsuit seeks to compel the City to take all necessary actions, including legal action, to prevent further harm and to protect the safety of those undercover officers who now face potentially grave risks as a direct result of the City’s actions.”
