We’ll keep this quick, team: We’re seeing lots of threats to democracy nationwide, and in just a few weeks, Wisconsin will elect a new state supreme court justice. Here are three reasons you should care:

(1) The future of fair maps is on the line.

Wisconsin has some of the most gerrymandered maps in the country, making it almost impossible for Democrats to win a majority in the state legislature. This election could give Wisconsin the opportunity to overturn these rigged maps and replace them with fair ones.

(2) Reproductive freedom is on the line.

A law pre-dating the Civil War imposed a total abortion ban in Wisconsin, and after Roe v. Wade was overturned, that ban was reinstated. This election could determine whether this nineteenth-century law is enforced.

(3) The 2024 presidential election is on the line.

In 2020, Wisconsin came closer than any other state to overturning the presidential election results in response to Donald Trump’s baseless lawsuits. Now, right-wing election deniers are spending record amounts of money to elect a judge who they believe could help invalidate the presidential election results in 2024.

For these reasons, we should care about Wisconsin, but these threats to democracy are also spreading across the country. There’s a lot at stake team – so here’s one way you can help: By donating to the NDRC!
