The 2023 filing season in full swing. Taxpayers can add IRS.gov to their favorite bookmarks to stay on top of the latest tax information. On IRS.gov, the IRS offers helpful online tools and resources [ [link removed] ] for taxpayers getting ready to file [ [link removed] ] their 2022 tax return.

In addition to finding tax forms and instructions, taxpayers can also get help:


* *Choosing a preparer*. The IRS has several options for finding a tax preparer. One resource is Choosing a Tax Professional [ [link removed] ], which offers a wealth of information for selecting a tax professional. The Directory of Federal Tax Return Preparers with Credentials and Select  [ [link removed] ]_Qualifications_ can help taxpayers find preparers in their area who currently hold professional credentials recognized by the IRS or who have an Annual Filing Season Program Record of Completion.  


* *Setting up direct **deposit. *Direct [ [link removed] ] deposit [ [link removed] ] gives taxpayers access to their refund faster than a paper check.* *Those without a bank account can learn how to open an account at an FDIC-insured bank [ [link removed] ] or through the National Credit Union Locator tool [ [link removed] ]. Veterans should see the Veterans Benefits Banking Program [ [link removed] ] for access to financial services at participating banks.

* *Creating or reviewing IRS Online Account. *The IRS encourages taxpayers who have not created their Online  [ [link removed] ]Account [ [link removed] ] yet to do so soon. People who have already have an Online Account should make sure they can still sign in successfully. Taxpayers can use Online Account to securely access the latest available information about their federal tax account.
 

* *Paying a tax **bill. The* IRS offers several ways for taxpayers to pay their taxes [ [link removed] ] including online or by phone. IRS Online Account and Direct Pay [ [link removed] ] are free and a safe way to pay taxes or estimated tax directly from a checking or savings account. Pay by Card or Digital Wallet [ [link removed] ] options are also available for a fee.
