I attended a hearing in the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies. We heard from Rachel Jacobson, Assistant Secretary of the Army, Installations, Energy, and Environment, and Lieutenant General Kevin Vereen, Deputy Chief of Staff G9, Installation Management Command. Modernizing military housing, barracks, and child development centers is essential to improving the quality of life for our military personnel and their families. Last year, I secured $29 million in the FY23 Appropriations bill for a new child development center at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) - Randolph. The state of the art childcare facility will help children of JBSA-Randolph families grow and thrive.

I heard from Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, and Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller)/Chief Financial Officer Michael McCord during a hearing in the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. I will continue to support the Department in keeping our communities, our families, and our country safe. |
