People of all generations deserve to have their rights protected by elected officials who will stand up to the GOP’s regressive agenda. When I look at the amazing women in my family, I can’t help but want to fight even harder for their future:
People like my mom. As an immigrant in a new country, she faced the struggles of raising three Muslim girls in a world set up to work against us. But she persevered and inspired me to be a proud Muslim woman.
People like my sisters. Arsheen and Afreen are doing world-changing work in the STEM field by not only revolutionizing their work but also by overcoming the barriers that so many women of color face.
People like my daughter. Aaliyah could only be born because of the reproductive choices I had the right to make, and she deserves those same rights when she is older. My baby girl and all of our children deserve to grow up in a country free of gun violence, hate crimes, and the impending climate crisis.
My family deserves a brighter future, and I know yours does as well, John. But it is going to take all of us coming together to make that happen.
