Survivors Speak in Atlanta: Let’s Keep Listening, Together

The National Survivor Study (NSS) is reaching new audiences!

[link removed]

On February 22, Polaris and IHG Hotels & Resorts hosted “Survivors Speak: Human Trafficking Insights for Impactful Change” in Atlanta. Corporate executives, government officials, and service providers gained new insights from a survivor-led panel on NSS results and a corporate panel on how businesses can support survivors.

The day garnered significant local media coverage

Rumors v. Reality: Do You Know the Difference?

Polaris continues to debunk myths about how trafficking happens.

[link removed]

Case in point: Although viral social media posts have warned about zip ties, car seats, and drug-laced flowers luring people into trafficking, these methods have not surfaced in any National Human Trafficking Hotline cases. In fact, traffickers often exploit family (21%) or intimate relationships (23%), or recruit victims through job offers (36%).

Your Advocacy Is Needed: Urge Congress to Support Survivors

[link removed]

Our advocacy priorities include passing the Trafficking Survivors Relief Act.

This law would enable survivors to clear federal criminal records resulting from their trafficking experience. Such records can interfere with employment, housing, education, child custody, and more, as survivors work to regain their freedom.

A pathway for survivors to clear their federal records and move on with their lives is long overdue. Contact your representatives

to ask them to reintroduce and support this legislation.
