Breaking news: The Senate Elections Committee added Ranked Choice Voting to the elections omnibus bill (SF 1636), a key step in advancing RCV to a floor vote! The bill was laid over for amendment and will be voted on in committee this Thursday.
We have the momentum, but there is a lot of work to do before we make RCV a reality in Minnesota. Can we count on you to chip in before the end of the month?
The amended bill allows more local jurisdictions to adopt RCV if they wish and sets up a task force to make recommendations to the legislature on implementing RCV at the state level and in even more local jurisdictions (with even-year elections). While the bill has gone through several changes, it continues to represent a big step forward for RCV in Minnesota.
A big thanks to all of you who were able to attend the hearing and send emails into your legislators and committee members. Your activism is making a difference.
We must keep pressing forward in the Minnesota House and Senate and continue to build support for this critical democracy reform.
We have less than two months left in session. You can ensure we have the resources necessary for the critical weeks ahead to fight back against disinformation by opponents, educate voters about RCV and ensure legislators understand the many benefits of this promising democracy reform by donating today.
We still need to raise another $10,000 this month so that we have the resources necessary to push the RCV bill over the finish line. Can you chip in?
We can’t thank you enough for showing up, contacting legislators and giving whatever you can for this big legislative push. We simply couldn’t do this work without you.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Massey
