Last night, Obama Attorney General Eric Holder had blunt words for PCCC
members about the right-wing extremist running for the deciding seat on
the Wisconsin Supreme Court on April 4:
ERIC HOLDER: "By any objective measure, Dan Kelly is unqualified…He is a
far-right, MAGA extremist who is wrong on every issue. He believes
abortion should be criminalized, and even worked for the extreme group
that’s fighting to keep Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion ban in place. He has a
record of siding with right-wing special interests. And let’s not forget
the fact that he’s an election denier who has been at the center of the
extreme attempts to overturn Wisconsin’s 2020 election results -- even
advising the Republican Party of Wisconsin on their plan to submit an
alternate slate of fake electors."
Holder asked the 10,000 viewers of our national briefing to get involved
in the final week: "I believe every generation is called upon to do its
part to protect democracy…This is the fight of our time."

Vote operation in Wisconsin.
On the briefing, our partners -- Wisconsin Democratic Chair Ben Wikler and
Swing Left Executive Director Yasmin Radjy -- shared stories of first-time
volunteers getting involved and loving it. [ [link removed] ]Sign up to call Wisconsin

On the Zoom call, Progressive Change Campaign Committee co-founder Adam
Green talked about the strategic impact this race could have for 2024:
"Let’s be clear, winning this Wisconsin Supreme Court election could
un-gerrymander Wisconsin. It could give Democrats a fair playing field in
the upcoming state and Congressional elections, the 2024 presidential
race, and pave the way for decisions protecting abortion access and voting
rights. Those are the possibilities if we have a fair Court… what we do in
the next week will really matter."

Ben Wikler spoke about the dynamics of the race on the ground and the fact
that there are still tons of Dems who aren't accustomed to voting in
Spring elections who need to be contacted. "I don't know anyone who has
completed a single full volunteer shift and hasn't recruited at least one
vote. You will find people who were not going to vote in the Spring
election because they've never voted in the Spring before -- but once they
understand the issues and how tight these races can be, they will commit
right in front of you to cast a ballot."
Yasmin Radjy spoke to how important activism is in Wisconsin's super-close
races: "This past election, we avoided a Republican supermajority in the
legislature by about 2,400 votes....The last Supreme Court race in 2019
came down to about 6,000 votes. When we say every single voter we talk to
between now and April 4 could make the difference, we are not
exaggerating. Every single person on this call could be the difference in
what happens in this election."
John, the fact is that after after some high profile losses
that did great damage both to Wisconsin and the country, in recent years
Wisconsin voters narrowly put Biden over the top, installed a Democratic
governor, and elected a Democratic Supreme Court justice. But everything
depends on grassroots activists getting involved in this final week of the
election.
