Dear Friends,

As March comes to a close, we know we have much to highlight - including Women’s History Month, the 13th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, and the Trans Day of Visibility. Please find more information on how you can join us below!

We are just seven days away from a crucial special election in Wisconsin. If you are in Madison, please drop by a special Coalitions GOTV Rally on Saturday, April 1st! Judge Janet Protasiewicz will be speaking alongside leaders across various communities in Wisconsin. Stick around to get out the vote and to knock on doors afterward!

Thank you all so much for your help and support.

Best,
The DNC Coalitions Team
First, we want to acknowledge the senseless gun violence in Nashville, Tennessee yesterday that took the lives of three children and three teachers. We stand behind the President in his call for an assault weapons ban. Our hearts are with the Nashville community.

@harrisonjaime: I'm truly devastated over today's shooting in Nashville, and I'm praying for the victims and their loved ones. ([link removed])

How can we continue to allow this to happen? We must do more to keep our communities safe and end gun violence in this country. Our children deserve better. ([link removed])

@POTUS: I call on Congress again to pass my assault weapons ban. ([link removed])

DNC Statement on 13th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act

March 23, 2023

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement on the 13th anniversary of President Obama signing the Affordable Care Act into law:

“Thirteen years ago today, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law, affirming that health care is a right, not a privilege, and giving Americans peace of mind that they would be able to receive the care that they need. Since then, this landmark legislation has lowered costs for families, insured more than 30 million Americans, protected coverage for those with preexisting conditions, made it possible for states to expand Medicaid, allowed those who are under 26 to stay on their parents’ health care plans, ended lifetime caps on the essential care a person can receive, provided free birth control, and so much more. It’s no wonder the ACA is more popular than ever.

“Over the past two years, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats in Congress have protected and strengthened the Affordable Care Act, and thanks to their leadership in passing the monumental Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan, ACA premiums are near record lows, enrollment is at an all-time high, and prescription drug costs continue to come down.

“While Democrats fight to expand coverage and lower health care costs for families, MAGA Republicans support proposals to gut Americans’ health care. Since 2010, congressional Republicans have repeatedly voted for measures to repeal or undermine the ACA, and 2024 MAGA Republican presidential hopefuls have a long record of pushing plans that would raise Americans’ health care costs while offering less coverage. Despite these attacks, Democrats will always stand up to protect Americans’ health care."
